My sweet little bird spread her wings,
took flight and left my nest
So glad and so grateful
for the grand adventure that awaits her.
This season of
new beginnings, new friends,
and new experiences.
This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to receive
a priceless education, the gift of self-discovery,
this chance to rise and shine.
But even with all the goodness,
my mother-heart aches tonight
with this change.
A poignant pang--
this loss and longing for
priceless, yet ordinary
she and I shared together
of picking her up from the greenhouse
and hearing about her day,
seeing her sweet smile
across from mine
as we gathered around
the dinner table,
given and received.
Wondering, too, if I did enough,
Hoping what was given
And so I'll remind myself now
of what I told her then:
"we feel so deeply because we love so deeply."
Yes, it's the business of parenting,
this bitter-sweet and beautiful
allowing, trusting, and letting go;
watching with wonder
this magnificent, majestic,
miracle sight of
What a great day to have a birthday.
Family dinner (Jambalaya) last night with all the family
gathered around you.
Laughing and loving, we're all together once again.
First day of 7th grade today, and a new teacher, too.
Party, popcorn, pizza, and playing in the park later with your friends,
Your smile, your joy
the sunshine in our lives.
We love you so, dear Isaac.
May all your dreams come true.
I adore this man. Thich Nhat Hanh is one of my greatest teachers. We can learn and love so much when we practice deep and compassionate listening.
Happy Sunday, friends.
Yesterday was one of the sweetest days in our family.
Reunited and all together again
after two years of Samuel's service as a church missionary
in Arizona and New Mexico.
This life-changing experience
has been a wonderful, rewarding, and growing time for him,
and he is happier than he's ever been.
A piece of my heart has at last returned
and for all of this,
I'm so very happy..
