from Eliza'a Instagram feed yesterday: "casually spinning wool for an art assignment"
seeing:: woke up to see snowfall on the mountain this morning. Whoa!
enjoying:: the cozy, along with the sound of thunder accompanying last night's rain. With every big crack, I let out a loud cheer. It's been a while since we've had a good thunderstorm.
listening:: Green Eyes and God Put a Smile Upon Your Face by Coldplay.,, a few of my old favorites.
outing:: lots of time sitting in doctors' office waiting rooms this week with Sam (ingrown toenail procedure), Papa yesterday morning, Mama yesterday afternoon. Everyone's doing great, by the way.
smiling:: A young fifteen year old neighborhood boy named Riley and my dad have a special relationship. It all started when Riley was about five years old and found out about my dad's "glory days" when he played college football (quarterback) at Brigham Young University (where my oldest four children and I attended, as well.). He soon began idolizing him by asking for Dad's autograph, and sitting next to him all these years in church every week. They are best buds and this just thrills me. Last Sunday, my dad invited my cousin's son who plays as a BYU center, along with a couple of other players to come over for a "BYU football party" to surprise young Riley and his family who thought they were just coming over for a visit. This thank you note he received from this sweet boy warms my heart and makes me so proud of my dad's goodness and friendship to so many.
reading:: finished and still plowing through my book stack these last few weeks: Slowing Time: Seeing the Sacred Outside Your Kitchen Door (Mahany), The Root of This Longing: Reconciling a Spiritual Hunger and a Feminist Thirst (Flinders), Writing Down Your Soul (Conner), The Siege (Dunmore)
baking/cooking:: With the approach of my very favorite time of year, I've sure been smitten with the baking bug lately. I have so many things I want to practice, explore, and create. Looking forward to quiet, cozy days in my kitchen making delicious and beautiful delights for my loves. Last night's dinner was a yummy creamy cashew vegetable curry and tonight we'll enjoy a sweet potato chopotle soup to go along with the bread I baked this morning and the apple pie Isaac and I made together this afternoon. I'm really motivated to up my frugality ante by producing as many things as I can at home like bread, tortillas, treats, etc.
heart-melting:: this, too, that Eliza shared today on her Insta: "It's a cool feeling when you wake up and realize you're living the dream you had for yourself when you were a little girl. I hope I can make her proud."
